DIN 6797 Toothed lock washers with external teeth-Type A

DIN 6797 Toothed lock washers with internal teeth-Type J

The Type A and Type J DIN 6797 is one popular serrated lock washe. They are both made in accordance with the German industrial standard and they work to secure bolts and nuts that may loosen due to vibration. Type A is usually for use on general purpose designs and refers to an external tooth lock washer – the teeth are around the outside diameter of the washer. Type J is generally internal tooth lockwashers, the teeth of which extend radially inward in a circular direction. Both are made of stainless steel (e.g., A2) or spring steel. Locking force is generated by the contact surface and tooth profile, these fasteners are used in mechanical vehicles and general industrial applications.
