GB/T 1231 is the national standard for 'Technical Conditions for High Strength Large Hexagon Head Bolts, Nuts and Washers for Steel Structures' in China. This standard covers all the technical provisions as in case of high strength bolt connection sets (noting; bolts, nuts and washers) of stabilished property class 8.8S and 10.9S for use with bolts specification GB/T 1228, nut specification GB/T 1229 or washer specification GB/T1230 to form a complete 'large hex head bolt connection set' system. The standard demands for essential characteristics such as material composition, performance including proof-load and yield strength, hardness, torque coefficient, recycle property so on. This is to guarantee safe and reliable force transmission in friction- type steel connections by means of robust bolt pre- tensioning.
